Rabobank, cash and negative interest rate.
Economy June 21, 2021
Recently, Rabobank just announced new rules related to cash deposits (done at an ATM), mainly modifications of imposed fees. So, starting with 1st September this year, you will be charged €2.25 per each cash deposit, but not more that 4 times per year. After that, the charge will go directly to €9.50 per deposit.
Rabobank justifies this by several reasons, such as preventing criminal activities, costs related to cash-based activities, and so forth. What's interesting to notice, is that the cash is under more pressure from all over the world (looking at Central Banks / governments) to be quickly deprecated (and/or made extremely costly to handle). Probably soon electronic money will be a choice imposed everywhere.
But meanwhile, Rabobank joined the banks line that are charging negative interest rate: -0.50% for any accounts above €100.000 (for now at least - starting with 01.07.2021). So once again, thank you ECB!
