The good, the bad, the ugly

3 weeks into Trump reign of power

 Politics   February 12, 2025

We're more than three weeks into Donald Trump's inauguration, and a lot has happened. Trump is living up to his promise to bring a tsunami of changes and make America great again in the process—so far, with varying degrees of success. We begin with:

The good:

  • USAID Collapse – By Far, the Best Decision Ever

The dismantling of USAID has exposed an enormous waste of taxpayer money, the promotion of corruption, and its involvement in orchestrating color revolutions worldwide.

Here are some snippets of USAID's activities:

- USAID financed a website for Kyrgyz people that encouraged them to move to the Russian Federation
- USAID spent $159 million to build 106 climate resilient schools in Pakistan
- $20 million for a new Sesame Street show in Iraq
- USAID spend $2 million on sex changes and LGBT in Guatemala
- 90% of Ukraine’s media was funded through USAID
- USAID paid $600m for anti-Russian media & $98m for Venezuela’s Guaido, in just 1 year.

  • Securing the US borders: Trump delivers on this promise, even forcing Mexico and Canada to follow suit—after the shortest trade war in history. Deportations of illegal immigrants are already underway.

The bad:

  • Finishing war in Ukraine (in 24h, now 100 days) - This hasn’t happened, and Trump has no real strategy for ending it favorably for NATO or the U.S. He continues to threaten Russia with taxes, tariffs, and sanctions, despite clear evidence that these measures are ineffective. Treating Russia the same way as the vassal EU states is hardly the brightest idea.

“He can’t be thrilled, he’s not doing so well,” he told reporters, referring to Putin’s war."

"Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War! IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE," he added.

Indeed, it's going to get worse. But not for Russia. And, as the confused Mark Rutte said, the front is moving into the wrong direction.

"So far as we know, the front line is moving in the wrong direction. It's going eastwards," he said".

Eastwards means Russia, which is hardly the case.

  • GAZA situation - As recent events have shown, Trump bows to no one—except Netanyahu. The latest U.S. visit made it abundantly clear who is truly in charge.

On Thursday, February 6, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order activating sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC). Retaliation had been expected since an arrest warrant was issued on November 21, 2024, (for crimes against humanity and war crimes) against Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump also suggested plans to displace Palestinians from Gaza into Egypt and Jordan while redeveloping Gaza into a massive real estate project. However, his comments have been met with strong resistance.

In this situation, Trump continues to sustain and encourage the ongoing genocide, framing it as a fight against terrorism (Hamas). Meanwhile, the Israeli army is actively involved in targeting civilians, including women and children*. Trump appears unbothered by this reality, while the U.S. continues to supply weapons to Israel. At the same time, he expresses concern about young people dying in Ukraine.

The ugly:

  • US is getting back to plastic straws (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c2k574ydyyqo). That's a problem, right there.
  • Golf of Mexico gets renamed to Golf of America  - completely stupid
  • Greenland saga. Trumps is still dreaming about grabbing that land, despite Danish opposition (https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crkezj07rzro)
  • Trade wars with everyone, even allies

Trump promised more to come, so buy more popcorn now. Buy local, not American though.

* After days of suffering the 11-year-old Palestinian child, Saddam Hussein Iyad Rajab, succumbed to injuries in the hospital. An Israeli sniper shot him outside his home in Tulkarm, West Bank.
