Since it's always fun to discuss politics, let's take a quick look at the (parliamentary elections) results this year.

As forecasted at 17 March, the situation looks pretty much like this:

The winner is (again) Mark Rutte and his party, VVD. Even if there is a huge gap between his numbers and the rest, he still needs to do a coalition in order to have majority. How this will be done, it's still a work in progress thing at this moment.

What is interesting to notice is that the winning party here (VVD) has won 35 seats, which accounts for 23% of the total. Not even a quarter, but due to the fragmentation on the rest on the list, it's the most important number.

Mark Rutte is in charge since 2010 and now he continues with the fourth(!)mandate. From wikipedia we can read that:

During the negotiations for the COVID-19 recovery fund in the European Union, Rutte is considered the unofficial leader of the Frugal Four,[34] demanding loans instead of grants and more conditions on them.

During a parliamentary debate on 9 September 2020, Rutte suggested that the EU could be dissolved and re-formed without Poland and Hungary, as he perceives these countries' governments to be dismantling the rule of law.[35][36][37]

On 15 January 2021, the third Rutte cabinet collectively resigned after publications of research around the childcare subsidies scandal in the Netherlands.[38] Rutte offered his resignation to the King, accepting responsibility for the scandal.[39]

At this moment there are no conditions about loans and grants on so called COVID-19 recovery fund, the money printer is going full on. And quite an interesting view about EU without the countries that are daring of having different views than the ones from Bruxelles.

For the moment, the prime minister is busy enforcing weird, authoritarian anti-corona measures at all costs.

As I stated in the beginning, talking politics is fun! :)
