Princess Beatrix is well after COVID infection - a clever marketing stunt

A bit of cold and the power of the booster.

 Social   December 9, 2021

A couple of days ago, the news that the ex-Queen Beatrix has a coronavirus infection was out in the open. To note that she is 83, and doing very well despite her coronavirus infection (according to the King Willem-Alexander). Which is good to hear, but some cherry picking from the news:

She only had a bit of a cold; thought it was the air conditioning in the tropics. She got tested, it was positive.

She's in very good spirits otherwise, so it's all fantastic.

So the infection is just a bit of a cold, and despite the age, she's doing great. Then the clever marketing stunt:

There she announced that she has had two Covid-19 vaccinations and a booster shot.

The booster shot part is important, since being fully vaccinated in the mid 2021 is not different that fully vaccinated by the end of the same year.

Now, she was tested positive based on a PCR test. Those are unreliable for this sort of testing, so it might as well be a false positive. Or even it couldn't have been no test at all, but let's assume that lying about this is out of the question.

Or maybe she was just lucky. 1 in 5 old people in nursing homes weren't so lucky this year. You might say: yes, but those haven't had the booster. That might be true, but it's hard to ignore another 2 shots of the same vaccines like not working, and then out of the sudden to promote the booster as a fixer. Vaccines are waning over time, but these two shots were administered in a stretch of 8-9 months, not years ago. It's kinda odd to build a case where vaccines are good and fine, but shortly lived therefore they need to continue on a regular basis.

The reality check is in fact the booster is not giving extra protection, but merely trying to fix the expected protection of the overrated vaccines. That's why they push this extra so hard after a couple of months since the last shot. So for the old people (>65) is mostly an attempt to offer some sort of protection. In some cases it works, in some not.

But to force mandatory vaccination for all age groups (including children!) and the boosters as the ultimate solution is plain wrong and criminal.

The freshest data on hospitalizations in the Netherlands per age group:

The numbers are hospitalized per 1.000.000 of people from the same age group (so that parameter matters too). But it's easy to see where the big chunk of numbers resides (>60).
